About the work
Leaves of Light focuses on fern fronds emerging where a narrow light reaches into a dark forest. The illuminated green remains vivid against the surrounding shadow, making the boundary between visibility and concealment central to the image. Fine structures in the leaves become clear, while the deeper forest stays largely unreadable. This contrast gives the photograph its quiet tension and sense of breathing space. Rather than describing the whole forest, the work attends to one brief meeting of light and plant life. Its dark field and concentrated colour allow it to sit calmly within an interior.
