About the work
Lessons of the Forest records a deer standing within dense green, looking quietly toward the camera. An old stone lantern and scattered light place the animal within a landscape where human traces and natural time coexist. The photograph depends on the stillness of that encounter: nothing is staged as a dramatic event, yet the deer’s gaze changes how the surrounding forest is perceived. Details emerge gradually from the darker greens, asking the viewer to adjust to the pace of the scene. The encounter remains unresolved, held between the animal’s attentive presence and the layered depth of the forest.
